What Is KAATSU Training?
Why KAATSU?
KAATSU, which means “additional pressure,” was invented in Japan by Dr. Yoshiaki Sato. KAATSU training involves applying special air pressure bands to the arms or legs. This alters blood circulation in the body, allowing very light exercises to achieve the same training effects normally seen with high-intensity training.
How KAATSU Works
Pressure of the bands
exerts moderate compression on
the upper arms or thighs.
Blood flow to torso
is slightly slowed, while arterial blood
flow functions normally (safe, as no occlusion).
Decrease in oxygen supply
to muscles and metabolic
stress triggers adaptations & effects.
